Raccoon Infostealer mastermind brought to justice.

Mark Sokolovsky, 28, from Ukraine, was extradited to the US for allegedly operating a large-scale cybercrime scheme. He’s accused of creating and selling “Raccoon Infostealer,” malware that stole personal information from millions of victims.

Raccoon Infostealer was offered as a “service” for around $200 a month. Users spread the malware through phishing emails, tricking victims into installing it. Once installed, it stole logins, financial details, and other sensitive data.

Authorities shut down the malware in March 2022, but not before it amassed millions of stolen credentials. The FBI encourages anyone concerned they were affected to check their email address on this website: https://raccoon.ic3.gov/home

Sokolovsky faces charges of fraud, money laundering, and identity theft. He’s presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
